Retrofit ATC Limb Guards

$220.00

The main purpose of this component is to prevent the bow, especially the parallel limb and beyond bows, from sliding out when the bow is pressed.  Another function is to hold the bow under low pressure so that the operator can use the bow press as a bow vise to do minor work.  The ATC Limb Guards are equipped with a Delrin spring-loaded pad to retain pressure on the limb and also protect the limb from any damage.

For installation on an EZ Bow Press.

  • Remove the 10-32 screw that is through the two clamping plates.
  • Inspect the tubing of the frame, the area below the fingers, and remove any material (stickers etc.) to allow the clamping plates to be mounted directly in contact with the steel tubing.
  • Place and align the limb guard assembly directly under the base of the fingers. Tighten the two 1/4-20 screws gradually and equally on both screws.  The two clamping plates are designed to slightly collapse the walls of the tubing by creating an undercut, so that the assembly cannot slide out when the screws are completely tightened.
  • Repeat the process above with the other limb guard on the other arm of the bow press.
  • The assembly is equipped with a 10-32 security screw. After testing the limb guard functionality and position, you could install the security screw transferring the hole by drilling through the steel walls of the tubing from both sides of the clamping plate and install the provided screw.
  • The clamping mechanism is designed for 1 3/4 steel tubing.
  • Two 1/4” spacers are provided for frames that are 1 1/2″ square tubing.
  • To correctly use the limb guard mechanism, place the bow onto the bow press and slide the limb guards so that they are firmly in contact with the limbs. Secure the limb guards by tightening the black knobs.  Now you are ready to press the bow and the limb guards will maintain a hold to prevent the bow from slipping out of the press.
  • The spring-loaded Delrin pad will allow the bow to move in a downward direction when it is being pressed.
  • If for whatever reason the spring-loaded Delrin pad is fully compressed, you will feel  “a wall” on the hand wheel of the bow press.  Do not press any further.  Back-up the pressure, and slightly move both limb guards away from the limbs and repeat the procedure again.
